Family Portraits 2011

FF_004

Last month, we turned Victoria's 6 month portrait session into a family portrait session.

We were terrified of how these photos were going to turn out!

We don't sit for photos. We SURVIVE photos.
(Don't believe me? See yesterday's school portrait.)

I thought this post's title was going to be: "2 zombie parents with 2 demon children". Victoria had refused to nap that day after a very rough night (her 2nd tooth erupted the following day), Bertrand was in a cyclical meltdown from overstimulation at the park, and Matthew and I? Well, we felt a bit "frayed"--to put it lightly.

We shouldn't have worried. Staci, our photographer, is an absolute magician! We love her!

(A couple of these photos will likely end up in our yearly holiday spam card. If you're not on our card list, let me know if you'd like to be.)

  5. Oh, I love them! Victoria and Bertrand are both little Cristina clones, if you ask me :). And school photos can be hilarious in their non-appropriateness; Daniel and Veronica both had pictures which were so incredibly somber that they turned the corner and became weirdly great. I'll have to send you copies. (I don't know if we can ever do a family portrait session like you guys -- just the thought of all that outfit coordinating makes me sweat).

  7. Anonymous - Victoria's dress is from Target. Everything else is from our closets. I pulled every gray-ish piece of clothing we owned (Bertrand's shirt is actually brown stripes) and laid it on the floor of a bedroom that got lots of natural light so the colors were true. Then I just mixed it around until we had a good (enough) balance of texture and visual weight. Matt vehemently hated the sweater I'd originally pulled for him, so he did a last minute outfit change (hence the 70s leisure suit look he is rocking). But overall, I'm happy with "the look". I think we coordinate without being too matchy-matchy, and it didn't cost a penny. :)
